He has won over 70 national and state awards for his promotions and revenue ideas. Besides generating revenue Don Hurd’s newspapers have won several community service and general excellence awards from national and state press associations. Additionally, his newspapers have won national print quality competitions at least five times. Hurd has worked for Howard Publications, Home News Enterprises, Liberty Media Group, and Community Media Group. Recently, Hurd founded Hoosier Media Group. HMG is one of Indiana's fastest growing media companies having acquired five newspapers and shoppers in Indiana for it's media portfolio. Hurd continues to consult with the other newspapers to help them achieve their revenue and sales goals. Hurd has served the industry by serving on committees for the Inland Press Association, Hoosier State Press Association and NNA. Additionally, he has served as president of Hoosier State Press Association and Indiana Advertising Executives Association. Hurd has served on the board of directors for the Illinois Press Association. He also has served as a guest presenter for Inland Press Association, Hoosier State Press Association andIllinois Press Association on revenue generation. Don Hurd is a graduate of Ball State University with degrees in Telecommunications, Journalism and Marketing.
